My name is Rich Tamblyn and I am very honoured and proud to be the principal of Front of Yonge Elementary School. Our school is the heart of our community. Throughout my time here, I have grown to know our families, and our community members who support our school in many different ways. I am always amazed at how well our students and families are cared for by the generosity of our community and I am grateful to be a part of it.
Here at Front of Yonge Elementary School, safety, caring and learning are at the center of our work with students. When they feel safe, and cared for, then they will do their best learning. Making connections with our students and building positive relationships with them and their families is a priority at our school. Wellness is part of our practice at Front of Yonge and we look forward to supporting our students' mental health and academic progress. At our school, we teach skills that research has shown will increase happiness levels. Those skills are gratitude, kindness and mindfulness. We believe that by teaching these skills, we can help students develop a strong foundation upon which they can learn how to read fluently and accurately, they have a strong sense of belonging, and they can perform number operations as required by the curriculum. At Front of Yonge, we believe the most important thing we can give our students is the time they spend learning with a caring educator.
